Thank you for proctoring exams for The University of Alabama. Bama By Distance Testing
Services is using SmarterProctoring to coordinate all of our exam material for our
proctored exams. SmarterProctoring is a proctoring process management system that
helps facilitate and streamline exam instructions and materials for an institution’s
proctoring program from beginning to end.
To add yourself and/or your institution to SmarterProctoring, visit SmarterProctoring to sign up. You should sign up as a "Testing Center" or "Proctor" when identifying your institution or proctor classification. Find detailed registration steps here. After you have completed all registration steps, your request will be sent to Bama By Distance Testing Services for approval. It will take 4-5 days for this process.

At no time should the student be given access to passwords. You must enter the password for each exam. The student will log into their exam site through Blackboard. Once they are logged in, the password box will appear.
You will receive an email that will contain passwords for all exams for the listed course(s). Please keep passwords in a safe place where you can access them each time the student is ready to test.
You may give exam information to a co-worker in your organization if you will not be able to proctor an exam, but you should never send proctor information to anyone outside of your organization. If a student changes proctors, they must contact us to request a proctor change.

Original exams must be returned to us by the proctor via regular mail. The student is responsible for postage. Return exams to:
