ROBERT M. AND MURIEL R. BARKSDALE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student, age 25 or older, who graduated from a high school in West Alabama, and who demonstrates satisfactory academic progress. Amount: Variable

DOROTHY D. AND JOHN J. BOYNE ENDOWED SUPPORT FUNDS

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama undergraduate student who is at junior or senior standing and pursuing a degree in a public service area, has demonstrated academic excellence (holds a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application) and leadership qualities, is an Alabama resident, and is pursuing a degree though programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

*WILLIAM E. BRIGHT ENDOWMENT FOR THE SUPPORT OF NATURAL GAS PROGRAMS (ANGA)

Applicant must be a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student who is an employee, or the dependent of an employee, of a member company of Alabama Natural Gas Association. Applicant must be an Alabama resident. Applicant must demonstrate academic excellence and exhibit outstanding leadership qualities. Must demonstrate financial need, although not as necessarily as defined by federal guidelines. Preference will be given to students who are taking courses facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

THE CAMPBELL – ELLIS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama graduate or undergraduate student, age 25 or older, who is enrolled in an academic degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies, and who is working full-time or part-time while in school. Preference will be given to students who have completed at least 12 semester hours of graded work, and have earned a GPA of 3.0 or better. Demonstration of financial need, not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines, may also be a consideration for the award.

JAMES C. CALDWELL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student. Priority of consideration will be given to applicants from Winston and Marion counties. Second priority of consideration will be given to deserving applicants who are enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Demonstration of financial, not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines, may also be a consideration for the award. Amount: Variable

*GENERAL CHARLES G. CLEVELAND – MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama graduate or undergraduate student, who is currently in the United States Air Force, or other U.S. Armed Forces, and pursuing a degree facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Applicant must be in good academic standing, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to persons stationed or employed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL. Amount: Variable

CAROLYN AND DENNIS DAHL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to full-time and part-time graduate and undergraduate students who are enrolled in academic degree programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines. Must exhibit academic excellence. Amount: Variable

THE CATHERINE HORTON EISEN CPA, B.S. 1978 AND DR. STEFAN EISEN JR. COL. (RET.) USAF, DPA 2003 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in a field of study that benefits the autism community. Majors/Programs may include, but are not limited to, special education, pre-occupational therapy, and pre-physical therapy. Recipient must have demonstrated an interest in applying their skills in service to the autism community upon graduation. Priority of consideration shall be given to undergraduate students at The University of Alabama, who are considered first-generation college students, and who are applying to college later in life. Second priority of consideration shall be given to students applying to college later in life, who are enrolled in fields of study that benefits the autism community.

GLADYS M. FERNANDEZ ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR SINGLE PARENTS

This scholarship is awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student who is enrolled in a degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Priority of consideration will be given to students who are single parents, who have primary responsibility for the care of a child under the age of 18. Amount: Variable

*CONNIE G. GLAZE MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a support staff member (clerical) of the College of Continuing Studies, working a minimum of 25 hours per week. Recipient must be a part-time or full-time graduate or undergraduate student. Amount: Variable

THOMAS S. GRAVES MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student, with priority of consideration given to students who intend to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Second priority of consideration will be given to applicants in any other academic division. Applicant must be an Alabama resident, 25 years of age or older, who demonstrates academic excellence, and has earned a minimum 3.0 GPA, majoring in a science-based curriculum. This scholarship is merit-based. Financial need is not required. Priority will be given to residents from Etowah and Cherokee counties. Amount: Variable

LEE ALLEN AND MARY NELL HALLMAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama graduate or undergraduate student who is enrolled in an academic degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Preference will be given to applicants who are military veterans.

JOEL D. HAMMOND – BIG RIVER INC. ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to University of Alabama students enrolled in New College LifeTrack (formerly the External Degree Program), who are either employees or dependents of employees of Big River Industries, located in Marietta, Georgia. Second priority of consideration will be given to students enrolled in other academic degree programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies, who are either employees or dependents of employees of Big River Industries. Amount: Variable

MARK HARRY HARRISON MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama undergraduate student over the age of 23, who is enrolled in an academic degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Preference will be given to applicants who attended a high school in the state of Georgia.

JACK AND AUDREY HATMAKER MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama graduate or undergraduate student who is a resident of the state of Alabama, and is pursuing a degree in business though programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

KAY H. HODGES MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama graduate or undergraduate student, who is enrolled or accepted for admission to a nursing program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Priority of consideration will be given to students from Cobb County, GA, and Etowah and Tallapoosa counties in the state of Alabama. Student must demonstrate financial need, though not necessarily as defined by federal financial aid guidelines. Amount: Variable

JAMES A. HOOD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This diversity scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student, age 25 years or older. Priority of consideration shall be given to Alabama residents who graduated from the state’s public school system, intend to pursue a degree as a teacher or school administrator, and intend to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

ELIZABETH B. AND RONALD C. HOWARD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate student who is 25 years of age or older, and who is enrolled in New College LifeTrack (formerly the External Degree (EXD) Program). Preference will be given to students who have completed at least 12 semester hours of graded work, under the auspices of the EXD Program, and have a GPA of 2.0 or better. Demonstration of financial need (though not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines) may also be a consideration for the award. Amount: Variable

THE SAMUEL HOWARD MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This scholarship is awarded to a graduate or undergraduate nursing student who is enrolled in courses facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Second priority of consideration will be given to a student enrolled in other degree programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

ALISA BARR JOHNSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student who is enrolled or accepted for admission to a nursing program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate academic excellence. Amount: Variable

JEROLD KENNEDY MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student who is 25 years of age or older, and who is enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in disciplines served by the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

KING – BLACKBURN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to University of Alabama graduate and undergraduate students who graduated from high schools in Baldwin, Mobile, and Escambia counties (or adjacent counties), and who have incurred hardships as a result of hurricanes or other natural disasters. Students must be in good academic standing (earning a minimum 3.0 GPA), and pursuing degrees through programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

WILLIAM AND SYBIL LANDAU MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to students 25 years of age or older, who are currently enrolled in or accepted for admission to New College LifeTrack (formerly the External Degree (EXD) Program). Priority of consideration will be given to adult students from Jefferson County, Alabama. Second priority of consideration will be given to students in other counties within the state of Alabama. Third priority of consideration will be given to students residing outside of the state of Alabama. Must be in good academic standing. Amount: Variable

*ROBERT ROSS MACDONALD MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate student, with a grade point average of at least 2.5. Priority of consideration will be given to residents of Alabama, first, from families involved directly in the trucking industry, and, second, from families in businesses which indirectly support the trucking industry. Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies, with priority given to deserving students who demonstrate financial need (though not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines). Amount: Variable

*EBER MANN MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student, with priority of consideration given to students from Winston or surrounding counties, whose high school academic records, college entrance exam results and character indicate a reasonable probability of success. Second priority of consideration will be given to deserving applicants who plan to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Demonstration of financial need (though not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines) may also be a consideration for the award. Amount: Variable

*GRACE L. AND COLONEL FLOYD H. MANN MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to full-time and part-time graduate and undergraduate students enrolled at The University of Alabama. Priority of consideration will be given to students who are children of law enforcement officials, and/or who intend to pursue a career in law enforcement, and who demonstrate financial need (although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines). NEW COLLEGE LIFETRACK SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the New College LifeTrack program (formerly the External Degree (EXD) Program), who are in good academic standing, and who demonstrate financial need (although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines). Amount: Variable

JOHN COOK NICHOLS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama graduate or undergraduate student, who is currently enrolled in a degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must exhibit academic excellence and demonstrate financial need (although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines). Amount: Variable

CLARICE L. PARKER MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student who is an Alabama resident, age 25 years or older. Student must have earned a minimum 2.5 GPA for the previous semester. Preference will be given to students intending to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate financial need. Priority of consideration will be given to students from Tuscaloosa County. (Must complete FAFSA). Amount: Variable

MARY LOIS & H. HARRISON PARRISH ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who is pursuing a degree in nursing, and who is enrolled in at least one course, administered via distance education, through the College of Continuing Studies. Priority of consideration will be given to students taking courses through video recording(s). Must demonstrate financial need. Must be an Alabama resident. Amount: Variable

DOUGLAS W. PATTERSON MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student who is 25 years of age or older, and who is enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Preference will be given to students in disciplines served by the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

WILLIAM HENRY RHEA, JR. MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student, who is an Alabama resident, age 25 years or older. Must exhibit academic excellence (has earned a minimum 3.0 GPA) and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students who are majoring in engineering or business, and who are taking courses facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

*JOHN H. SELLERS, SR. MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate student who is in good academic standing. Must be an Alabama resident. Priority of consideration will be given to high school graduates who were little brothers or little sisters, and affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham, Alabama. Second priority of consideration will be given to students who participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters in surrounding cities. Third priority of consideration will be given to student enrolled in degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines. Amount: Variable

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student who is 25 years of age or older, and who is enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. Amount: Variable

TATE THOMAS AND MARY B. STRICKLAND MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate graduate student, who is an Alabama resident, pursuing a degree through academic programs facilitated by the College of Continuing Studies. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required for consideration. Must demonstrate financial need. Amount: Variable

HERSHEL TRIMM MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student, who is an Alabama resident, age 25 years or older. Student must have earned a minimum 2.5 GPA for the previous semester of classes taken, and be enrolled in at least one course administered through the College of Continuing Studies during the semester in which the award is received. Priority of consideration will be given to students pursuing a degree in a home-building field. Amount: Variable

*WARRIOR ROOFING – THOMAS G. SHURETT MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student. Priority of consideration will be given to employees, and dependents of employees, of Warrior Roofing Company, Inc., who are pursuing their education at The University of Alabama. Second priority of consideration may be given to deserving students from West Alabama who are enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

ROBERT L. WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student, age 25 years or older, who is majoring in engineering or business, and is enrolled in programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate academic excellence (minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale), and show financial need. Amount: Variable

JERRY F. WILSON, SR. MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student, age 25 years or older, who is enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the college of Continuing Studies. Preference is given to students pursuing degrees in disciplines served by Distance Education programs in the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable

JUDITH H. WILSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate student who is pursuing a degree in nursing, and facilitating their education through College of Continuing Studies programs utilizing video recording(s) or other distance learning methods. Priority of consideration will be given to students from Marion and Winston counties. Amount: Variable

General Guidelines

The 2018 – 2019 College of Continuing Studies (CCS) scholarships application will be available from March 1 through December 1, 2018. You must be currently enrolled or accepted for admission to the University to submit the application.

Please note that the application must be completed and submitted online through myBama. To access the application, log in and click Admissions/Scholarships, located in the menu on the left side of the screen. To the immediate right is the Scholarships pane. Under the All Graduate/Undergraduate Students subheading, click the Continuing Studies Scholarship Application link to proceed to the online form.

Applications are reviewed in intervals to make scholarship awards for fall, spring, and summer, or until funds have been exhausted. You should submit one (1) application only, per award year, for consideration for all CCS scholarships.

Award notifications will be sent according to the following schedule:

  • Fall 2018 award notifications will be sent in late July 2018
  • Spring 2019 award notifications will be sent in late November 2018, and
  • Summer 2019 award notifications will be sent in early March 2019

All scholarship-related correspondence will be sent to your Crimson email account.

If you select one of the Special Category scholarships, you should provide proof of applicable company or organization affiliation. Acceptable forms of documentation may include an employee ID, written certification on company letterhead, or other related documents. PLEASE NOTE: Special Category scholarships are marked with an asterisk (*). Scholarships not marked with an asterisk do not require supporting documentation. Please refer to the scholarships listing, above, for eligibility criteria.
