Connect People with Information

Get Ready to Rise with the Tide

If you're looking to experience a rewarding career in the center of the information age, the Master of Library and Information Studies at The University of Alabama offers you an exciting opportunity. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, the MLIS creates a virtual classroom through live, interactive class meetings over the internet.

Your Degree, Your Future

Because many students work full time, all coursework utilizes technology to accommodate your busy schedule. This enables you to earn your degree while balancing your family, career and education. Students may take two courses each semester and complete the program in as few as six semesters. You can choose to complete the program online or through the regional cohort option.

Online Option

  • Cohort begins in the Fall.
  • Courses are delivered via web-based technology that creates a virtual-learning campus and students are expected to attend and participate in regularly scheduled online sessions.

Regional Cohort Option

  • Cohort begins in the Spring.
  • Courses are offered in a blended format consisting of face-to-face meetings at the UA Gadsden Center and online courses.

Hear from Our Students

The cost of the program was a huge plus. The UA online MLIS program was very affordable, even for out-of-state students. Knowing that I could afford to earn a quality degree online was the reason I didn't give applying to UA a second thought.
