60-Credit Hour Program - Master of Social Work (MSW)

The 60-credit-hour program is for those who currently do not hold a CSWE-accredited BSW. It can be completed in two years when pursued full-time. Coursework is offered primarily online with face-to-face skills labs held on selected Saturdays at regionally convenient locations across Alabama.

Foundation Year

Fall Semester (15 hours)

  • SW 500 Social Welfare Policy (3 hours)
  • SW 510 Human Behavior and Social Environment I (3 hours)
  • SW 540 Social Work Practice with Families* (3 hours)
  • SW 541 Social Work Practice with Groups* (3 hours)
  • SW 542 Social Work Practice with Communities* (3 hours)

Spring Semester (15 hours)

  • SW 511 Human Behavior and Social Environments II (2 hours)
  • SW 534 Integrative Seminar (1 hour)
  • SW 570 Research Informed Practice (3 hours)
  • SW 590 Field Education (9 hours)

Summer Semester (9 hours)

Students may take courses this semester to lighten coursework requirements in future semesters.
