Admission - EdS in Secondary Education Science

The EdS in Secondary Education Science features rolling admissions. Applicants can be admitted to the program at the beginning of every semester: fall, spring, and summer.

Master's-level certification in Secondary General Science, Secondary Biology, Secondary Chemistry, or Secondary Physics is required for admission.

In addition students must meet the following admission requirements:

  • Admission to the University of Alabama Graduate School
  • An earned master's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • A minimum GRE score of 300 (verbal and quantitative combined) or an MAT score above the 50th percentile.
  • Also considered are professional/academic recommendation letters, educational experience in teaching and leadership, a statement of purpose, and writing samples

If the applicant did not receive a master's degree and certification in Alabama, the completion of this EdS degree will not provide Alabama AA (EdS) level certification. Those seeking licensure outside of Alabama must inquire with the certification agency in the state where EdS level certification is sought.
