Proctored Testing

Students enrolled in online or video courses have several options for exam proctoring. Exams may be taken in the Bama By Distance Student Services office on campus, online using B Virtual, a live proctoring services, at a two or four-year college that has a testing services area, or at a local library that provides proctoring services. Testing deadlines are provided in the course syllabus of each course. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule tests in accordance with the established deadlines. Additional charges may be incurred for proctoring services depending upon the location/method selected by the student. The student is responsible for any proctoring cost.

Online Proctoring

Students may choose to complete proctored exams using the live, online proctor service B Virtual. For a nominal fee, this service allows students the opportunity to take their proctored exam virtually anywhere in the world with a live, online test proctor.

You will need a computer (no mobile devices may be used for this service) with reliable high speed internet connection and an external, detachable web camera. The live online proctor will provide the necessary software to effectively proctor your session remotely. After the session is complete, your proctor will remove any remote proctoring software from your computer.

Students must present two (2) forms of ID, preferably a driver’s license and student ID. Distance Learning student ID cards do not have a picture. Therefore, a pictured form of ID must be presented.

Follow the instructions provided at uofalive.onlineproctornow.com to register to take an online proctored exam. Be sure to test your computer system when you register or schedule your first proctored exam. We also recommend you test your computer four hours prior to any exams to ensure there will be no problems.

Any fees, such as exam proctoring fees and postage are the responsibility of the student.

NOTE: Online proctoring can NOT be used for paper exams.
