Prospective Students

Thank you for your interest in Academic Outreach programs at The University of Alabama.

Admission policies and procedures for degree programs and courses offered through Academic Outreach vary. Students are responsible for reading and understanding admissions policies and procedures for the degree program/courses they plan to enroll in.

Undergraduate Non-Degree Seeking Students

You may enroll in undergraduate correspondence, online and videotaped courses without being formally admitted to the University. Students may take a maximum of 12 semester hours without being formally admitted to a degree program at the University. The University cannot guarantee that courses taken under this status will apply toward a degree program nor will coursework taken under this status guarantee admission to the University if you are not otherwise admissible.

You will not be able to enroll in a distance course until you have been admitted in either a non-degree or formal degree seeking status. To apply for non-degree admissions please click on the "Undergraduate Admission" tab on the left. The application process varies based on the type of course you wish to take. Please note the difference in the application creation procedures for online, correspondence, videotaped or campus-based courses.

PLEASE ALLOW AT LEAST 48 HOURS FOR THE ADMISSIONS APPLICATION TO BE PROCESSED BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REGISTER IN A COURSE. AFTER YOU HAVE VERIFIED YOUR ADMISSIONS STATUS IN MYBAMA YOU MAY CLICK ON THE REGISTRATION TAB TO YOUR LEFT FOR DETAILED REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS.

Undergraduate Formal Admission

To apply for formal admission to any of the undergraduate degree programs offered through Academic Outreach, you must complete an admissions application, submit transcripts from all colleges previously attended, a high school transcript (if you have less than 24 semester hours of college coursework), or an official GED score if you did not graduate from high school. To apply for formal admission please click on the "Undergraduate Admission" tab on the left.

Graduate Admissions

All students who wish to enroll in graduate level courses must be admitted to the Graduate School. Please click on the "Graduate Admission" tab on the left.
