A bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition from The University of Alabama focuses on the relationship between nutrition and human health. This program is beneficial because it is offered exclusively by distance, making it convenient for working adults.
Students will learn how to use nutrition to enhance human health and to control human disease. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of registered dietitians is expected to increase nine percent during the 2008-2018 projection period. Job growth will result from an increasing emphasis on disease prevention through improved dietary habits. A growing and aging population will boost demand for nutritional counseling and treatment in hospitals, outpatient facilities, residential care facilities, schools, prisons, community health programs, corporations, and home healthcare agencies.
Our program is a CADE approved didactic program and upon completion you will be eligible to apply to dietetic internships. After completion of a dietetic internship, you will then be eligible to sit for the Registered Dietitian exam and become an RD upon passing the exam.
